Thinkingabout renting a car and going over to Fujiten Ski Resort this weekend however I've been informed that ski resorts in Japan can often have very snowy roads. Does anyone know if it's possible to get to Fujiten easily with a regular sedan car and no special tires? FujitenSnow Resort. 8.8 (ふじてんスノーリゾート) 富士山8545-1, 鳴沢村, 山梨県. It was the first time we had that much terrain open for the June long weekend since 2000," Mr Ellis said."Over the last 10 to 15 years it's been about 50-50 with no snow, skiing or snowboarding on the opening weekend, so what we're seeing this weekend is not unusual." A dusting of snow started to fall on Thursday, but not enough to allow skiing and snowboarding for the weekend.Supplied Thredbo ResortMr Eliis said forecasts showed the potential for enough snow to fall in the coming weeks to allow for winter activities, but something to pay closer attention to is the long-term snow trends."What is changing is the length of the season," he said."It used to sort of drift into November and even December, now you'll see the peak and it plummets pretty quickly, whereas before it was more of a gradual decline in the snow base."That makes it pretty obvious that things are getting warmer earlier, so summer moves in pretty quickly."Focus on slowly changing snow seasonsWith Australian winters getting warmer, and a slow decline in average snow depths, some in winter communities are starting to raise awareness about the impacts of climate change on the Quirke is part of a group of concerned pro athletes, individuals, resorts and outdoor enthusiasts called Protect Our Winters Australia."Our vision is to still have a winter season here in Australia for generations to come, which is at risk at the moment," Mr Quirke said."We've already been experiencing inconsistency in seasons for a while, and an overall decline in snowfall trends year-on-year."The impacts of climate change on the Australian winter are really starting to show." Sam Quirke from Protect Our Winters is concerned about the impacts of climate change on alpine activities.Supplied Sam QuirkeMr Quirke said it was not only recreational skiers and snowboarders who depended on reliable snow seasons."Its a multi-billion-dollar industry in Australia, the winter sports industry, there's over 10,000 jobs that rely on it, and many, many more through secondary economies and the like," he said."There's a range of other reasons why we need to protect winters, whether it be from an environmental or social perspective."The Bureau of Meteorology BOM said there there was potential for some brief snow dustings before the weekend, but no large falls that would cover the meteorologist Angus Hines said there were no big snow dumps predicted in the immediate forecast, but things can change."In order to set yourself up for a good season, it really only takes one or two big snow events at the right time of year to put you in good stead for the rest of the season," he 8 Jun 2023Thu 8 Jun 2023 at 938pm, updated 9 Jun 2023Fri 9 Jun 2023 at 124am Detailed Reviews Reviews order informed by descriptiveness of user-identified themes such as cleanliness, atmosphere, general tips and location 2023 • FamilyMy kids really wanted to have fun in snow/ski and Fujiten resort was a good option for us despite most of the snow being man-made at this time of the stayed a few days in Fujikawaguchiko and drove daily to Fujiten about 20 mins.We managed to engage the services of a ski coach without reservation an english speaking one is difficult to find and my kids were sufficiently trained to go on the beginner slopes on their own after a 2 hour trainign rates of skis and attire were reasonable. Our tour guide and driver that day was Gary; and he was beyond excellent! Gary is a Filipino based in Japan so our family easily warmed up to him! It definitely made the trip light and easygoing!I was a little bit intimidated by the idea of visiting Fujiten Snow Resort as this was honestly my first time dealing with snow. Most visitors rented skis and snowboards; but fortunately, the resort also offers a Ski Lift service for non-skiers like my family to still allow us to make the most out of our time be honest, we were struggling a bit to walk through the ice; given that we were a pretty clumsy family and compounded by the fact that the sun was glaringly bright at that took us a while to locate the ski lift primarily because there were only a handful of visitors who opted for this activity; but the effort was worth it. The lift afforded you great views of Mt. Fuji and the resort. They'll let you alight once you have ascended to the peak as it gives you access to a small photo op area which gives you an unobstructed view of the peak of Mt. It is a tad inconvenient to get to as even with your Japan Rail Pass you can only get to Otsuki station then pay around £7 to get to Kawaguchiko station before taking a taxi for £35 one way to get to the resort and then hire bikes ranging from £60 hardtail to £150 full sus for the whole day including helmet and unlimited lift rides to the top. They have a canteen with ramen and a couple of other dishes you can get for around £7 each but bring cash or else you are stuck without food! You can also get lockers for your stuff but they were an extra £ once you get past that, the trails are super fun but not suitable for anyone who is still nervous as they don't have any flat segments, it is just all downhill so you do pick up some speed. For the very brave they have black trails with plenty of hardcore jumps as well! Overall a nice day out if you are committed to going for a ride.
